Within 30 days of moving to Texas:
1. Get your vehicle inspected
2. Register and Title your vehicle

Things you will need for Registration & Titling:
1. Vehicle inspection receipt (VIR)
2. proof of liability insurance
3. vehicle odometer reading (if less than 10 years old)
4. proof of vehicle ownership document: an original out-of-state title, proof of registration (for non-title state), current foreign/military ownership document, or foreign evidence of ownership
5. Form 130-U
6. Form VTR-272 for registration only without a Texas title


Fees* for Registration & Titling:
1. registration fee
2. title application fee (varies by county)
3. sales tax payment documentation or new resident tax ($90)

Exemptions:
If you are one of the following, you are EXEMPT from Texas Registration & Titling:
1. Active duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces
2. Non-resident, full-time students at a Texas college/university

Reminder:
Now that you are a New Texas Resident, you need a Texas driver license. In Texas, you have 90 days to get this done. See your local Department of Public Safety office for details.
